It’s not a huge deal at all but I love the thoughtfulness of it!Īnd speaking of design, I love that the stitching of the bag is completely hidden. The lock being at the top with the gap potentially leads to liquids (read, rain) leaking in, but the lock being on the side prevents that. This is a thoughtful design decision because where the zippers meet at the lock creates a small gap. Away bags have the same lock, though theirs is at the very top of the bag. I also really love the TSA lock and its position. Ditto the concrete outside to the linoleum airport floors. What struck me was just how quiet they were and how they transition from surface to surface seamlessly! Rolling it from my carpeted bedroom to the hardwood floors felt like nothing. I am pleased to announce that the wheels of my Monos bag are excellent! Monos uses the best quality materials in the market for every component of their products and it really shows in the wheels. ![]() I wasn’t going to suffer five more years of abuse from my suitcase wheels anymore! So safe to say, I wanted to make sure the wheels of my new suitcase were top quality. My husband usually will wheel my luggage for me, but I could see the frustration of the crappy wheels in his face too. The wheels kept getting stuck and eventually, the rubber casing of one of the wheels came right off. I decided I had to get rid of my old suitcase mostly because the wheels had been driving me crazy and after my trip to Hawaii in the summer, I had a hard time ignoring the difficulty I had of trying to get my bag from one place to another. Once bitten twice shy!) I also got it in the color “Ocean Blue.” It’s a lovely deep navy blue color that looks sophisticated. I love it because it still fits in the overhead bins of most planes (I try not to check my bags if I can help it because I’ve had airlines lose my luggage before. I got the Carry-On Plus which is the next size up after the smallest. ![]() Their smallest is their Carry-On and their largest is their Check-In Large. Monos luggage comes in many different sizes. However, Monos ads started to appear on my feeds so I looked into it and after doing lots of research, watching a ton of Youtube videos of comparisons, reading article after article about each material component of the bags, and even doing research on sustainability, I decided to get the Monos bag! You heard that right - they are a pretty sustainable brand, all things considered! Monos is certified carbon neutral, and a member of 1% for the Planet, meaning they donate 1% of their revenue to verified non-profit organizations that are dedicated to preserving and restoring the natural world. I was in the market for luggage and, of course, the Away bags were all over social media so that was what I was originally leaning towards. ![]() They have beautifully, simply, yet thoughtfully designed luggage, backpacks, and even travel accessories that were inspired by the Japanese concept of mono no aware, or “profound appreciation of the beauty in fleeting moments.” It’s a sentiment I can certainly appreciate! Monos is a Canadian luxury luggage brand.
